    Mind Blowing and Transformational

    Firstly, can I thank you very much for the workshop at the weekend. Not only was it interesting & informative but it has already influenced my teaching. I had a 1-1 session Monday morning & decided to get the spinal strap out of the bag & have a go with it. Got the student to do down dog, worked the 2 back releases with him for 5 minutes & got him to repeat the posture....instant success! He felt more freedom in his shoulders & was amazed this had worked. This was at the end of the session & as I was packing up to go, he, unbidden, took himself into wide angled forward bend &, well you'll know what happened next! His hamstrings had released! He was gobsmacked! We had done practically no work on his legs at all during the hour. I honestly had a tear in my eye because as you'll know, its one thing to feel these things yourself at a workshop & something quite different to see it in action with a real live student! I did more shoulder release work, without the strap, during my other classes & had good results with many of the students! Thanks again for a great weekend Susi, it was a pleasure to meet you & words like revelation, mind-blowing & life-changing spring to mind when I think of the course material you presented...I need more!!     My first yoga lesson (at age 56) was in-between two operations. One operation was in August 2002 and the second December 2002 so I probably started attending yoga in the fall of 2002. I went once each week to build strength for my next operation.

    I attended yoga because my daughter, Marnie decided I should and she MADE me go. Up to that time I did nothing for exercise and really didn't have to as my weight is pretty good. I was appalled at what my body would not do in yoga and that kept me going back - if others can sit up straight then I should be able to do it also.

    When I woke up from my December operation I hurt (of course) and could feel extreme tenseness throughout my body. Then I started to "hear" your voice telling me to "relax my fingers, relax my toes, relax my legs, etc." and I did just that in the hospital bed. I practiced Yoga relaxation whenever I could.

    I got back to attending Yoga as soon as I could after the operation.  I am still attending and have used Yoga to make my body work the way it did before the two operations.

    I know my body would not be as good as it is without your help and inspiration. At your suggestion I also went to Lymph massage to get my lymph system working again - this has made all the difference to me. If I did not regularly go to lymph massage and yoga I would be taking lots of pain killer drugs. Now I am drug free.

    Also, I did see a chiropractor each and every month for about 30 years before Yoga. It seems that the more I do Yoga the less I see the Chiropractor. My body and upper back seems better now and instead of running to a Chiropractor when I hurt - I just attend a Yoga class.

    Just after my of the two operations my bone density reached the Osteopenia range. My medical doctor wanted to immediately put me on bone density drugs and I begged him to wait just one year to see if I could increase my bone density myself. My bone density did in fact increase and so far has not decreased. I do Yoga and take Calcium and Vitamin D.

    Thanks Susi for your help and perhaps my story will help someone else in the same predicament.

    If I were to sum it up – I’d have to say, “I’m no longer an imposter”. Truly I am beginning to feel what it means to be ME from the inside out. How wonderful to be connected to every part of my body (from the centre of my belly to the tips of my toes to the top of my head).

    It’s been great to bring what I’ve learnt to my Mom and sister. We’ve all been harbouring internal and external ‘baggage’ so when I heard their comments “I really feel my belly talking to me – it feels different”, only a short time after doing both the initial observational exercises.
