And you know that the relationship between you and your primary teacher is vital to your success.
You want someone who is more than knowledgeable and experienced. You want a teacher who has a good mix of woo woo and science/evidence/results. Someone who will keep it real without spewing BS.
Someone who is equal parts supportive and still will push you in the direction you want to go.
Someone who practices what she preaches because it comes through in her teaching.
You know the parable . . . "give a person a fish and feed them for a day. Teach them how to fish, and feed them for a lifetime".
You want to learn to fish.
For you, it is more than "yoga for backs"
You want to grow your skill at being able to see movement, to see compensation patterns, and to truly help your students get relief and resolve their issues.
There are 6 key components to helping clients get out of pain consistently and sustainably.
Susi Hately, B.Sc. Kinesiology has helped people get out of pain since 1995 and has been training yoga teachers and health professionals how to integrate yoga therapeutically into their practices since 2001.
Now she wants to help you grow your skill and ability to help others get out of pain.
I have a BSC. Kinesiology and have been helping people reduce and eradicate pain for 25 years. I have also been a bridge between the medical world and yoga. Two of my programs have been studied at the University of Calgary and both showed benefit for supporting people and their wellbeing. I am also the best selling author of 10 books and yoga video series, including Anatomy and Asana: Preventing Yoga Injuries.
I have been training teachers and health professionals in yoga therapy since 2001 and am the director and lead teacher of the highly successful C-IAYT Accredited Functional Synergy Yoga Therapy Program.
You can count on my expertise and experience. In addition to my IAYT program, I have appeared as a guest expert at Trent University, on Global TV, CTV, and in the Globe and Mail, Thrive Online, Chatelaine, Bride Magazine, Parenting, and Yoga Journal.
As a young student of yoga, I began to combine the ancient practices of yoga with my BSc. Kinesiology at a Vancouver pain clinic. When I continued to encounter individuals, including yoga instructors, who accepted that their pain was “normal”, I began to explore how yoga was being taught and practiced. By designing therapy programs that utilized sound anatomical principles of kinesiology with the time-honoured practices of gentle yoga, I have enabled people to find pain relief, feel good, and rediscover vitality in their lives.
"Susi is an exceptional coach. If you want to work with one of the best, if you want to work with someone who really wants you to succeed, if you want to work with someone who truly walks the walk and talks the talk, work with Susi. She really knows what she is doing".
"I chose to work with Susi because she is approachable, direct and clear in her teaching. As a teacher she is supportive while still pushing me in the direction I want to go in. She also practices what she preaches - which comes through in her teaching.
"I chose Susi's program because of her biomechanical approach to yoga therapy. I knew she would call it like she sees it and call me out if I needed it. She is clear that she wants her students to make a business out of it, not a part time gig, but full on making good money doing what they love."
This Yoga Therapy Fundamentals online training is not a replacement for the 54 hour Therapeutic Yoga Intensive. However, you will learn and practice Susi's foundational concepts and principles with her guiding you along the way.
Yes, Susi loves to over-deliver. Yes, if you are a member you will have access to this program as part of your active membership.
This Yoga Therapy Fundamentals online training is a module in Susi's IAYT Accredited Yoga Therapy Program. You can take it at any point in your certification journey with Susi and Functional Synergy. It is also in the process of being approved for continuing education credits with IAYT
Many years ago, Susi made a very conscious choice to not be affiliated with Yoga Alliance. With that said, her trainees have applied for credit for continuing education and have received hours with YA.
