One of the primary reasons that there is injury in yoga is compensatory movements.

Many practitioners can get seduced by the sensation of stretch. Pushing beyond where they can actually move.

Following the desire for depth and the ecstasy of expansion.

"Opening" their chest, reaching their top arm up and back while also reaching for the floor.

They then ratchet up these feelings so they can play "their edge".

And when They Do try to challenge Themselves and Play their "Edge" , they get discomfort in their SI Joint OR BACk

Some see this discomoft as something not to heed.   and work“mind over matter”, or “breathing through the heat”.

Others don't feel the pain during, but they do feel it after their practice is over.  They wonder why their back or SI are feeling so sore.

When they visit their physical therapist or chiropractor, they are genuinely perplexed at how there could be so much dysfunction at their SI Joints,  lumbo-sacral junction, and/or throughout the tissues of their hips, back, rib cage right up to the neck and down to their feet.

What To Do? Can We have a strong, fluid Supple Triangle Pose and feel safe?

To begin with, we need to understand the myths of Triangle Pose.

Myth: Triangle is a spinal twist. It isn’t, not really. While the cervical spine can rotate in this pose, the rest of the spine doesn’t.  Whether you are from standing or coming up from the floor, the movement isn't a spinal rotation.

Myth: You need to create length of the side body to do Triangle well. You don’t. The opposite is actually true - when you are moving well, the length in the side body naturally exists.

bottom Line - There is a Better WAy to Experience triangle Pose that will actually bring your more and Better mobility, strength and suppleness.

You can feel fantastic with triangle, and have Much Less Pain

"Susi takes yoga right down to its DNA, teaching us how to use our body in a more functional and systematic way. In doing so, she makes us aware of our own inner activities and helps us to further understand ourselves, but without it feeling invasive. Susi’s yoga appeals to people like things to be intelligent and straightforward.
If you work with Susi, understand that she wants to make us better and to open us up so we can do whatever it is we want to do.”

What People Are Saying About Practicing Triangle Following Susi's Training

  • “I had my students play with the hands on the ribs this week. Tt helped them to bring awareness to their side bodies and what was actually happening.  Most were able to really "be" in triangle comfortably.”  ~ Sarah

  • “Wow!  I have discovered that I'm great at side bending, but not so great at Triangle.  I absolutely love the hand position and plan on trying that out with my students next week.  With the focus on shoulder and pelvis I can tell that with practice I will descend deeper and deeper now that I'm moving in the way that works for me”

  • “This was a breakthrough for me.  I will definitely use this with students.”

  • “The way I was taught never felt comfortable in this pose until now. Now, my front hip moves more smoothly  It then feels so natural for my spine.”

  • “I had a great experience teaching triangle last night!!   It was BEAUTIFUL!!  Most people kept the movement in their own range, kept it lined up, and the asana was just so pretty. No shifting out of the frontal plane to reach the floor.  The compensations were minimized.  Afterwards they also commented about feeling their legs and obliques in a new way.  I was so excited to watch them find their range and move "Susi-pure" as I think someone said!”
  • “Prior to training with Susi, I thought this pose felt good – now if I do it the old way, it feels like like alot of cranking, and forcing.”

"I chose to work with Susi because she is approachable, direct and clear in her teaching. As a teacher she is supportive while still pushing me in the direction I want to go in.  She also practices what she preaches  - which comes through in her teaching.

- Tamara

"Susi doesn't give you the top 5 ways, or the 3 things to do  . . .  (We all know those don't lead to sustainable success).

Instead, she teaches you how to think, how to assess a client, and the steps to take to start treatment. And in a few short weeks post training, this was of thinking has helped more clients than ever.

- Sara

"I was one of those people who thought pain was normal. After learning from Susi, I felt different - almost weird - because I had no pain".
