One of the primary reasons that there is injury in yoga is compensatory movements.
Many practitioners can get seduced by the sensation of stretch. Pushing beyond where they can actually move.
Following the desire for depth and the ecstasy of expansion.
"Opening" their chest, reaching their top arm up and back while also reaching for the floor.
They then ratchet up these feelings so they can play "their edge".
Some see this discomoft as something not to heed. and work“mind over matter”, or “breathing through the heat”.
Others don't feel the pain during, but they do feel it after their practice is over. They wonder why their back or SI are feeling so sore.
When they visit their physical therapist or chiropractor, they are genuinely perplexed at how there could be so much dysfunction at their SI Joints, lumbo-sacral junction, and/or throughout the tissues of their hips, back, rib cage right up to the neck and down to their feet.
To begin with, we need to understand the myths of Triangle Pose.
Myth: Triangle is a spinal twist. It isn’t, not really. While the cervical spine can rotate in this pose, the rest of the spine doesn’t. Whether you are from standing or coming up from the floor, the movement isn't a spinal rotation.
Myth: You need to create length of the side body to do Triangle well. You don’t. The opposite is actually true - when you are moving well, the length in the side body naturally exists.
"Susi takes yoga right down to its DNA, teaching us how to use our body in a more functional and systematic way. In doing so, she makes us aware of our own inner activities and helps us to further understand ourselves, but without it feeling invasive. Susi’s yoga appeals to people like things to be intelligent and straightforward.
If you work with Susi, understand that she wants to make us better and to open us up so we can do whatever it is we want to do.”

"I chose to work with Susi because she is approachable, direct and clear in her teaching. As a teacher she is supportive while still pushing me in the direction I want to go in. She also practices what she preaches - which comes through in her teaching.
"Susi doesn't give you the top 5 ways, or the 3 things to do . . . (We all know those don't lead to sustainable success).
Instead, she teaches you how to think, how to assess a client, and the steps to take to start treatment. And in a few short weeks post training, this was of thinking has helped more clients than ever.
"I was one of those people who thought pain was normal. After learning from Susi, I felt different - almost weird - because I had no pain".
"Susi is an exceptional coach. If you want to work with one of the best, if you want to work with someone who really wants you to succeed, if you want to work with someone who truly walks the walk and talks the talk, work with Susi. She really knows what she is doing".
