Everybody loves the delicious sensation of a good stretch.
But sometimes we take it too far…
Seduced by the blissful sensation of expansion, we push beyond our safe range of motion into the realm of potential injury.
The muscles we are supposed to be using can no longer support our movement so we compensate by relying on other muscle groups to help out as we extend our limbs to the farthest possible edge of the stretch.
Our bodies get pulled out of proper alignment... muscles are strained or even torn... and suddenly there’s a sharp or throbbing pain in your back or your hips that just won’t go away!
It feels so good to open your chest as you stretch your top arm up to the ceiling while reaching your lower arm to the floor.
This pose offers such an ecstasy of expansion that yoga practitioners often are compelled to take the stretch too far and injure themselves – only to find themselves dealing with days or even weeks of pain or discomfort in their SI joint or back. (Ugh… SI joint pain is the worst… amirite?)
And when they visit their physical therapist or chiropractor to resolve the pain, they are genuinely perplexed to discover that they have high levels of dysfunction in their SI Joints, lumbo-sacral junction, throughout the tissues of their hips, back, rib cage right up to the neck and down to their feet!

What Yoga Teachers Are Saying After Learning Susi's Triangle Pose Training Techniques:
“Prior to training with Susi, I thought this pose felt good – now if I do it the old way, it feels like like alot of cranking, and forcing.” - Ross B
“I had a great experience teaching triangle last night!! It was BEAUTIFUL!! Most people kept the movement in their own range, kept it lined up, and the asana was just so pretty. No shifting out of the frontal plane to reach the floor. The compensations were minimized. Afterwards they also commented about feeling their legs and obliques in a new way. I was so excited to watch them find their range and move "Susi-pure" as I think someone said!” - Dawna H
"I had my students play with the hands on the ribs this week. It helped them to bring awareness to their side bodies and what was actually happening. Most were able to really "be" in triangle comfortably." - Sarah W
“The way I was taught never felt comfortable in this pose until now. Now, my front hip moves more smoothly It then feels so natural for my spine.” - Randy K
“Wow! I have discovered that I'm great at side bending, but not so great at Triangle. I absolutely love the hand position and plan on trying that out with my students next week. With the focus on shoulder and pelvis I can tell that with practice I will descend deeper and deeper now that I'm moving in the way that works for me.” - Kaitlyn V
